VisNetic WebSite To Be Discontinued January, 2004
Deerfield.com and Bob Denny announce “End of Life” for VisNetic WebSite
GAYLORD, MI — December 2, 2003 — Deerfield.com, a leading provider of Internet software and services
for growing businesses, today announced that it will discontinue sale and
support of VisNetic WebSite early next year. Further development of the web
server software will cease immediately.
Authored by Internet pioneer, Bob Denny, VisNetic WebSite was the first web server
developed specifically for Windows. Today, the product enjoys a loyal following
of web developers and remains one of the most stable, fully functional web
servers in the marketplace. “VisNetic WebSite is still the web server of choice
for many web developers--both new and seasoned” said Mike Deerfield, CEO at
Deerfield.com. “It is solid, well-tested software that boasts strong security
features and support for quite a few web development tools.”
“That being said, the decision to end development was not an easy one,” Deerfield
continued. “However, when Bob and I looked at the combined effects of the
current economic climate and the proliferation of free web server products in
the market space, we agreed that WebSite’s adoption rate was on the downswing,
making this the right time to discontinue the product.”
Prior to discontinuing the product, Deerfield.com will establish an alternative
communications medium for WebSite users. Denny will participate in user
discussions via this medium as his workload permits. “WebSite’s evolution has truly been a collaborative effort
between myself and its users,” said Bob Denny, product author. “I have enjoyed
the process and its participants and remain committed to making myself
available to this group.”
Product Sales and Support
VisNetic WebSite, version 3.5.19, will be available for sale from Deerfield.com and
authorized Deerfield.com Partners through January 31, 2004. Technical support
for the product will be available via a web-based forum hosted by Deerfield.com
through February 28, 2004.
