VisNetic Firewall Pre-Installation Guide

Before installing VisNetic Firewall, there are a few preparatory steps to help save time and ensure a smooth installation.

Record TCP/IP Settings

  • Adapter Name: record this name as it appears in the Windows Network Properties
  • Connection Type: note whether the adapter is connected to an internal LAN or to the Internet connection.

Create a Security Policy

It is important to create some security guidelines before installing VisNetic Firewall. This will help throughout the installation process.

Determine whether or not VisNetic Firewall will need to facilitate any inbound requests to servers (e.g. web servers, FTP servers, mail servers, etc.) and what outbound requests will be made (e.g. browsers, chat programs, etc.).

By default, VisNetic Firewall will block all traffic. That is why it is important to determine what traffic is to be allowed.
